chocolate hazelnut French toast
A great simple sweet option to an easy weekend brekkie with some berries for them antioxidants to level up your health game whilst being a real treat.
Chocolate Hazelnut French Toast
Serves 1
Ingredients
1 Slice Sourdough Bread
1 Egg (Whisked)
250ml Milk
1 tsp Vanilla Essence
Knob of Butter/Drizzle of Olive Oil
Hazelnut Chocolate Spread (I use Meridian Cocoa Hazelnut Spread, which has no palm oil but Nutella does the job)
Drizzle of Honey/Maple Syrup
Handful of Blueberries or Raspberries
1/2 tsp Ground Cinnamon
Dusting of Icing Sugar
1 pinch of Salt
Method
Mix the whisked egg and milk together, stir through the vanilla essence, cinnamon and pinch of salt for taste in a deep rectangular dish/bowl
Place the sliced bread in the dish and let it soak for about 5 minutes each side. Ideally more so it’s well soaked and left in sealed in the fridge, and flip sides)
Heat a small-medium pan over a medium-high heat with a small knob of butter or drizzle of Olive oil
Once pan is hot, place toast onto the pan and leave to toast for about 2-3min it’s till golden, then flip
Turn down heat to low-medium and leave for another 6-7minutes until well cooked and golden
Spread the chocolate and serve on a plate with berries, syrup and icing sugar
